Sizing your ring

A guide to sizing your ring correctly

The most reliable way to determine your ring size, is to be measured using sizing rings at a jeweller's shop.

Be sure to be measured using a sizer of approximately the same band width as the ring you would like to wear, as the width can affect the size quite a lot.

Alternatively, you can use a ring sizing belt, please let me know if you need one when ordering your ring.

All Glasswing rings are measured by the standard British (Wheatsheaf) scale, however I can convert the size for you if you only know your own country's system.

The measurements in the International Ring Sizing Comparison Chart here are for a rough guide only.

If you have any difficulties at all with working out your required ring size feel free to contact me and I will be pleased to help. How do I work out my ring size?

Ask me for a ring sizer and I will pop one in the post for you. Alternatively, visit a high street jeweller and ask them to size your finger using a sizing gauge. Don’t be tempted to simply use a ring they have on display, as you can’t be sure that whoever labelled it, got the size correct in the first place! Also keep in mind what kind of width you’d like your ring to be, as the wider the ring, the larger the size you need - the jeweller should have sizers for narrower and wider style rings. See more about ring sizes here.

RESIZING YOUR RING

CAN MY RING BE RESIZED AFTER I’VE received IT?

If the size isn’t quite right, resizing your ring isn’t a problem at all. It can usually be done very quickly in the workshop either here or at a high street jeweller or workshop near you. If you’d like it done here, you’ll just need to send the ring back, along with the correct size. If you need a ring sizer I can pop one in the post for you.

Stretching: Slight stretching (1-11/2 sizes) to enlarge your ring is a fairly simple process and is free, (you’ll just need to cover the cost of postage). If it’s a bigger stretch you need, especially for example if there are stones/settings involved, and more than a size and a half is needed, it may need to be done by specialist laser welder which I can organise, (or you can also organise locally to you). This normally costs around £30 + VAT.

Reducing: Making your ring smaller is also totally possible but calls for a slightly more complicated process, involving cutting and removing some material and re-soldering and re-finishing. This normally costs around £30 + VAT plus P+P. This can usually be done locally to you, or again, it can be done here if you send it back with the required size. Again, do ask if you need a sizer sent to you.

Sea Glass Colours

sea glass lands on the shoreline in so many beautiful colours! working out Where one shade ends and another begins (especially when you love the subtle oceans blues and greens) is endless!

This guide below just scratches the surface of the colours available in the Glasswing Collection, but hopefully it will give you a clearer idea of the colours and names to help you choose the glass you’d like in your jewellery. No two pieces of sea glass are exactly the same - the texture and density / thickess of the piece will all have an impast on the final result once the glass is cut and set, drilled or strung, but we’ll do our best to match colours for you based on your specifications.
